About the recipe
Fresh, vibrant and beautifully nourishing, my Green Goodness Smoothie is one of my favourite ways to start the day when I want something light, hydrating and full of wholefood goodness. The base is coconut water, which provides natural electrolytes, blended with creamy avocado, baby spinach, cos lettuce, fresh mint and parsley. I add hemp seeds for a little plant-based protein and healthy fats, along with Brazil nuts — naturally rich in selenium, an essential mineral that contributes to normal thyroid function.A touch of cinnamon adds warmth and natural sweetness, while a spoonful of kefir or yoghurt is optional if you want a little extra creaminess. What I love most about this smoothie is how fresh it tastes. It isn't overly sweet or heavy — just clean, creamy and delicious, with plenty of beautiful greens. And when I'm in the mood for something a little fruitier, I add ½ cup of blueberries. They transform the smoothie into the most gorgeous berry version while adding naturally occurring antioxidants and a subtle sweetness.Enjoy it as a refreshing start to your morning, an afternoon pick-me-up or add your favourite protein powder when you want something with a little more staying power. One simple smoothie, two delicious ways — green or berry.

NOTES + VARIATIONS
MAKE IT BERRY
Add ½ cup of frozen blueberries for gorgeous berry notes, natural sweetness and an antioxidant-rich boost. ADD BANANA
Blend in 1 small ripe banana for a naturally sweeter, creamier smoothie. This is a lovely option if you're making it for breakfast. ADD KIWI
Add 1–2 kiwi fruit for a fresh, tangy twist. Kiwi provides vitamin C and fibre and is a lovely fruit to include as part of a varied, gut-friendly diet. BOOST THE PROTEIN
Add 1 tablespoon of your favourite protein powder for a little extra protein and staying power. An unflavoured or vanilla plant-based protein works beautifully. EXTRA CREAMY
Swap out 1 cup of coconut water for almond or coconut milk. MAKE IT SWEETER
The Green Goodness Smoothie is deliberately fresh and not overly sweet, allowing the mint, greens and creamy avocado to shine. For a sweeter smoothie add a spoonful of monk fruit, raw honey or maple. ONE SMOOTHIE, TWO WAYS
Make the green smoothie first and pour half into a glass. Add 1/2cup blueberries to the remaining half, blend again and you have a beautiful berry version alongside your original green.
